Avis was a renowned knight, married to a beautiful heiress of a noble lineage. He was young, strong, and wealthy — the brightest prospects awaited him.

Everything changed one day when his estate burned down. His fiancée perished and Avis himself suffered horrendous burns. He retained his physical strength, but people began to shun him, and his duke asked him to leave — no one wants to see a disfigured person in an official position.
